SAMED Symposium: The Three C’s: Competition, Corruption & the Code
For Attention: CEOs/MDs, Risk and Compliance Personnel
Competition, Corruption and the Code
The South African Medical Technology Industry Association (SAMED) champions ethical behaviour and governance within the medical technology sector. Optimal quality of healthcare is inseparable from ethical business and marketing practices. Medical technology suppliers have a responsibility to act against corrupt activities which may impact the standard of patient care.
- Awareness of what is a perverse incentive and avoiding such practice safeguards patient interests and creates trust across the continuum of healthcare.
- Close collaboration between the suppliers and users of medical technology is good for innovation, choice and use of appropriate medical products. It can also, however, lead to inappropriate and irresponsible marketing and business practices, which can compromise patient safety and outcomes and damage the reputation of both the healthcare practitioner and our industry.
As part of our educational outreach to our members and the broader healthcare sector, SAMED invites you to the symposia. Expert speakers will reflect on factors that directly – and more broadly – impact on the medtech industry and the value it brings to healthcare. We hope to see you there!
