The concept of a CEASA-National web, with integral links to individual Sector or Branch webs, has now become a reality! CEASA-KZN has also kindly donated most of it’s own web pages and resources to this site, for all members in our nationwide CEASA family to share. Generally, you can now expect matters of common interest to all CEASA members to be centrally published on this CEASA-National site. All Sector or Branch linked webs will soon be publishing their own specific area notices, information and feedback.

The CEASA family is growing! On the evening of 3 December 2002, the CEASA-Western Cape Branch was inaugurated with the announcement of an 11 person, 6 month Interim Committee in Cape Town. We wish all our CEASA-Cape colleagues a wonderfully active and successful future.

Members travelling to Düsseldorf, Germany for Medica 2002 will note that CEASA is listed as an exhibitor under the Foreign Exhibitors section of the catalog. In fact, you will also note that many other Clinical Engineering organisations are similarly listed as being exhibitors at Hall 14B/ Stand 70. Please drop by and register your local contact details. Any person whom calls at the stand will be given assistance and contact details of CEASA members for possible meeting appointments. Johan Havinga of CEASA KZN has requested the posting of this notice for the benefit of all members, equipment suppliers and medical institutions that the Central Medico Technical Division (C.M.T.D.) conducts business with. Please be advised of immediate changes to the name of the Central Medico Technical Division (C.M.T.D.)
In line with South Africa’s Central and Provincial Government Clinical Engineering structures, C.M.T.D. will now be known as a Health Technology Unit (H.T.U.), with further functional descriptions being added as follows:
Health Technology Unit – (Clinical Engineering) Acronym H.T.U. – (C.E.)
The former Medical Equipment Replacement Project (M.E.R.P.) will in future be known as Health Technology Unit – (Assets Management) Acronym H.T.U. – (A.M.)
All of the former C.M.T.D.’s satellite entities in KwaZulu-Natal are similarly affected.

Members Meeting Notice for Thursday, 14 November 2002 at Westville Hospital
R & J Medical Suppliers will be sponsoring a Members’ Meeting to be held on Thursday, 14 November 2002 at 17h30, at Westville Hospital. The speaker will be Pam Engelbrecht, whom will be providing an overview of the automated disinfection of hospital instrumentation and breathing tubes. The presentation will be in the Hideaway Restaurant, followed by a visit to the hospital’s own installed Smeg Disinfection System. Exchange group sessions may be conducted in the case of large RSVP numbers.
